[Crazy Horse] Coil of Darkness - SD 241510.07 - JL| "Finding the Trail" | CO & XO | Capt Kanryth, Cmdr Agron

A Mission Post by Commander Zivit Agron & Captain Khiy Kanryth
Mission: Coil of Darkness
Location: Sickbay
Timeline:

Approaching sickbay, Commander Agron paused to draw in a deep breath. Firming the increasingly tenuous grasp on her composure, she forced her way through the door. From what sparse report she had gotten thus far, the Captain was not grievously wounded, but there was still some manner of walking in unknowing. She could no longer manage to place on a smile she did not feel; nor did she believe that Kanryth would expect it. There was some effort made to keep the weariness, the internal tumult from showing through, however. Gratefully, the bay was primarily empty. Both making her target much easier to locate, as well as ensuring there were not many ears around to be concerned over.

"You need to keep still Captain. You have broken several ribs and it's going to take time to…"

"Computer shut down EMH." The hologram fizzled away as Khiy slid off the biobed upon noticing his XO. "There was an incident…" he frowned at the mildness of his description "have you heard anything about the status of the President, or Praetor?"

One silvery brow crept upwards. Perhaps it was the relative ease in which it had been stated, or that he was ignoring the appropriate tending of his injuries so casually. Or maybe that she was just worn incredibly thin. "Computer, reinstate EMH." was voiced before she focused her emerald gaze on the Captain. Seeing him alive only offered so much relief in the midst of everything else. Zivit gestured at the biobed so recently vacated; even if she said nothing, the intent was clear.

"We have heard only scraps at best. Many are dead. The way everyone is hedging leads me to believe that at least one of those figures is likely deceased." was finally given in answer to his query, frown tugging at the corners of her lips despite previous effort to keep her expression calm.

Mild consternation at his XO stirred but he failed to voice his annoyance as he gingerly slipped back atop the exam table. The auburn haired EMH appeared frazzled but undaunted as she returned to her worked poking and prodding the poor CO. "We need to find out the culprit behind the attack. I already have an idea about the source of the materials used. It couldn't be any more obvious and that is something that concerns me greatly."

"Our search of the other ships involved in the missing trilithium has turned up... little. I have what few pieces we managed to uncover being investigated further." The Valzhan replied, before lapsing into a brief hesitation. Even with no one here, she felt this was not the appropriate place to air her mounting suspicions. "Though, the lack of forthcoming information in and of itself seems...intriguing."

Khiy waved off the EMH who narrowed blue eyes at him "I will have you continue the investigation into the source of the explosion- I fear that there is someone within command that has been aiding the culprits. I am not one to delve into conspiracy but I am also bothered by our difficulty."

Since it had been thrown out, Zivit nodded slightly. There was no point in further hashing the idea; if disturbingly comforting to know that it was not only in her own head that the strings ascended much higher than one should expect them to. "I will... arrange a more specific team to continue on with the search."

"That would probably be best." Khiy winced and rubbed at his temple causing the EMH to huff while giving the Captain a knowing glare. "In the meantime I will-"

"Captain, sorry to bother you sir. You have a message from Starfleet Command. Acting CinC Raazh is requesting that you return to Earth immediately."

Khiy looked at Agron.

Barely keeping the word 'no' from leaving her lips, the Commander pressed them into a very firm, thin line. Anxiety welled, tapping into the vast pit of frustration that was lurking just beneath the veneer she was fighting to keep in place. The summons answered a question, if nothing else. An answer that she had hoped would not have proven true. The team could be arranged without her to lead it... At least to begin.

"I wish to accompany you, Sir." Zivit finally spoke, pushing the words out past the many warnings, denials that were more than eager to leap out instead. Before the request could be denied outright, the woman quickly continued her train of thought. "If you will not allow me, I would send a trusted Security officer...though I believe she should prove more useful in the continuing hunt."

This was a new side to the Commander- at least one that he had yet to see. Onarin could also be adamant and insistent though Khiy was always more suspicious of the Cardassians motives. "I am weary of having both of us down there- but I will not try to dissuade you Commander. If you wish to join me- then do so." Truth be told he was slightly more relieved that the EMH was now gone. Sliding off the table he started for the door "let's hope our suspicions turn out to be...unnecessary."

"I think we will need more than hope, Captain." the Valzhan replied, though it was hardly loud enough to be heard. All the same, she turned to follow. There were arrangements to be made.
