[USS Crazy Horse – Brig]

Nitka regretted it. At least her head did. Her temples throbbed with a waking hangover as her vision faded away from the offensive bright fuzziness of the brig lighting. She sat up on her cot, rubbed a sore shoulder, and tried to recall what had happened. It was a blur- but she did remember biting into the tail of a gorn- oh and the midget Captain looking mighty irritated. She couldn't recall a more bizarre situation over the course of her nine lives. Er, well there was a time when Vebral tried to bed a Tyridian feline in a drunken stupor. That ended painfully with ten stitches where stiches shouldn't go…at least reattachment surgery wasn't needed. Though it was never quite same after that…

"Ugh…" Nitka groaned and pushed the weird thoughts out of her mind and instead focused on the security station just beyond the force field covered gateway "I need to get out of here." She protested weakly and pushed off the hard cot slowly meandering until he walked into the fizzling field which pushed her back with a slight tingle. "Hey." She motioned towards the security officer "get me out of here."

The young man looked up at her, squinted his eyes, and then shook his head "sorry Lieutenant but the Captain's orders said you couldn't leave until 1000. So you still have three hours of confinement left."

"Oh god." Nitka snorted "come on. Can't you cut me a break? It's just three hours!"

"Normally I would- but I hear the Captain is on the warpath lately. Not going to chance it. He's related to the ice queen after all. Sorry ma'am but you're stuck."

With a heavy sigh Nitka fell back onto the cot with a 'fuump' and kicked her legs into the air. What a mess. Of her own making of course so she couldn't really be mad at the Lieutenant or the Captain. Nope. She would just have to sit here bored out of her mind. Or… "Can we at least watch the broadcast of the Romulan state visit?"

The security officer looked set to deny the request but then swiveled in his chair and activated a holoscreen that lit up just beyond the doorway. On it a live broadcast of the Federation News Service feed was running.

Nitka frowned. It seemed just as interesting as watching the invisible field in front of her filter air. At least she could see her father and the rest of the entitled bunch from the council doing their meaningless gestures. "You see that boring guy in white?" Nitka pointed at the screen "my dad." What would have normally been uttered with pride from someone else sounded near boorish from Nitka.

"Intere…" The security guard's voice cut off just as the feed fizzled to static. He seemed perplexed and played with his console to no avail. "Weird, seems like there is an issue with the transmission."

"No…" Nitka felt her heart race as the static was replaced by the FNS broadcast studio where the announcer was mentioned an incident. Standing up she stared at the screen as it panned out to a smoky visage of the London convention center. "I need out of here." She demanded.

"Lieutenant like I said before…"

"Does this look like the time for that? I'm one of this ship's senior engineers! The Captain is probably down there in the mayhem and we may have just been attacked- who knows by who or what. Do you really want me stuck down here right this moment?"

"Damnit." He stood up "the Captain will probably have my neck for this but…point well taken." The security officer pressed a finger against the console and the forcefield fizzled away. As it did Nitka sprinted through and out of the brig. This wasn't happening… Dad!
